Valley City, North Dakota – A Valley City family was forced to evacuate early on Wednesday morning due to a fire. Around 4:00 a.m. on December 27, fire units arrived in response to the report.

According to Fire Chief Scott Magnuson, the home’s adjacent garage is where the fire originated. He claimed that all of the residents and a few animals had been saved. Nobody was harmed.

“When fire crews got on scene we had a lot of visible flames coming out of the garage area and a car that was parked in the driveway was on fire at the same time,” Magnuson explains. “Fire crews did a really good job of getting it knocked down quickly to stop the spread from getting into the house.”

There is significant fire damage to the garage and smoke damage to the house.

The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army have been contacted to provide the family with temporary housing. According to Chief Magnuson, the fire’s cause is still being looked into.
