“Unconscionable” is how Fargo City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn describes the planned police department increase

Fargo, North Dakota – Dave Piepkorn, a commissioner for Fargo City, is opposing the police department’s proposal to construct a new, larger headquarters.

“To have this being proposed is just so unbelievably irresponsible. It’s just symbolic of the leadership at this time. It’s just stunning, and to be that tone-deaf to be proposing this. It’s unconscionable,” said Piepkorn.

On Monday, the remaining commissioners gave their approval to the city’s master plan, which includes plans for a new department headquarters and training center, as requested by Chief Dave Zibolski.

The present police headquarters dates back four years.

During the commission meeting, Police Chief Dave Zibolski discussed the current building.

“We’ve already grown past this particular facility,” said Zibolski.

Piepkorn is in favor of updating the windows to make them ballistic-resistant and enhancing department staff parking security in the current building.

Piepkorn made an appearance on Jay Thomas’s show.
