Nearly $1 million donated to campaign contributions by Gov. Burgum

Bismarck, North Dakota – Doug Burgum, the Republican governor of North Dakota and a wealthy former software executive, has given almost $1 million of his own money to campaign contributions ahead of the state’s primary election campaign.
Much of the money has been put into a political action campaign to defeat far-right Republican candidates or others who disagree with Burgum’s spending and policy goals.
The political action group received more than $3.2 million in contributions from Burgum in the year 2020. In addition, Burgum gave more than $1.3 million to his own election campaign that was held two years ago.
Burgum has refused to comment on the campaign spending.
